African Sunset Update

I thought it was about time I updated you on what I've been working on over the last couple of weeks.

I've been stitching more of African Sunset nearly every night. And as a result I've been making very good progress.

I'm over half way across and each section is at least halfway down, depending on how much I had to do to finish the thread colour or so that I didn't have to do just 3 stitches of one colour in the bottom half.

I have done a little of the back stitch around on of the giraffes because I wanted to see what it would look like. There is actually not much back stitch compared to the overall size of the project. It's just the animals and some rocks at the bottom. The rest is all just a matter of how the colours are put together to create the picture and give shading.

It really makes a difference having the giriffe outlined with back stitch.

My late wife did a lot of x-stitching... A lot of it is still hanging in and around the house. She had been working on one in particular, for a long time, before her sudden passing (pregnant with twins) in April 2009... I have been thinking about having it mounted and framed with the chart in it, leave it as it is, or get someone to finish it... I am still a little perplexed as to what to do...

This one that you're doing looks lovely, and I like the back stitching around the leading Giraffes head, it makes it 'pop'!
